🔥 Stage 09 Done; Nacho's Consistency Impresses! 😍💪🏻 Provisional Ranking - Stage 09: P6 - @nachocornejo11 Hero’s flagbearer in the rally Nacho Cornejo once again showcased his exceptional grit, maintaining his solid 7th position in the overall rankings. The newest member in the team has been showing an impressive performance consistently right since the beginning of the rally and is looking in a stellar form, maintaining a top-10 spot. Feeling increasingly confident with his bike stage-after-stage, the young athlete from Chile is now looking forward to delivering a remarkable performance in the final three stages of Dakar 2025 as the rally enters its final destination – Shubaytah tomorrow with the empty quarter. Today’s 9th stage, spanning 357 km of timed specials presented a formidable challenge for the competitors. With the fast terrain mostly on dirt tracks, competitors were forced to maintain a high pace to remain in the contention as they covered a total distance of 589 km. Tomorrow's Stage 10 promises to be an electrifying test of endurance as the rally ventures east from Haradh. The day will kick off before dawn requiring competitors to ride in pure sand in the dunes, essentially marking the start of the penultimate empty quarter with a 520 km road section and 115 km of timed special. Highlights Stage 9: #Dakar2025 • Henk Lategan (auto’s) beleeft een van zijn zwaarste dagen tijdens de Dakar en finisht als 11e. • Mitchel van den Brink (trucks) kwam nét tekort voor de dagwinst en eindigt als tweede na een indrukwekkende etappe. Een etappe vol spanning en verrassingen! Mitchel van den Brink reed vrijwel de hele etappe aan kop en liet opnieuw zien wat hij in huis heeft. Na twee dagen vol tegenslagen leek hij op weg naar de overwinning. Een kleine navigatiefout kostte hem echter de winst, waardoor Aleš Loprais op 40 km van de finish de leiding overnam en de etappe won. Martin van den Brink eindigde als 7e. Hij verloor kostbare tijd door een lekke schokbreker en een scheur in de voorruit, die vanwege slecht zicht eruit getrapt moest worden. Henk Lategan kende een moeilijke dag. Al vroeg in de etappe verloor hij tijd, nog vóór het eerste waypoint. De oorzaak hiervan blijft onduidelijk. Teamgenoten Guy Botterill en Dennis Murphy stopten kort bij hem om te helpen, maar Lategan wist de verloren tijd niet meer in te halen en eindigde uiteindelijk als 11e. Guy Botterill en co-piloot Dennis Murphy crashten na 272 km. Gelukkig bleef de Toyota-crew ongedeerd, maar ze konden de race richting Haradh niet voortzetten. Een flinke tegenvaller voor het team, dat goed in vorm was en gisteren nog een knappe tweede plek behaalde. In het algemeen klassement wisselen Henk Lategan en Yazeed Al Rajhi van positie. Wij blijven vertrouwen houden in Lategan en hopen dat hij in de komende dagen weer kan aanvallen. De verschillen blijven klein, de laatste drie dagen beloven enorm spannend te worden! Dit is op en top Dakar, waar niets voorspelbaar is en de situatie elke minuut kan veranderen.
